School Visits
Highfields offers a fun, educational and hands-on experience for children of all ages. No two trips are the same as farm life differs from day-to-day.
Our childrens' visits are centred completely around your group or class and can be adapted for any topic you may be teaching. Most areas of Foundation and Key Stages 1 and 2 can be covered. We have produced a teacher's guide (at a cost of £12.50 and obtainable by contacting us on 01283 734356) which contains many activities and photcopy'able worksheets based directly on your childrens' particular key stage.
Whilst our farm tour lasts up to two hours you are welcome to spend a full day with us if you wish. You can enjoy a provided buffet meal or use one of the farm's picnic areas, explore our safe, open spaces, or simply let the children experience life on the farm at their own pace. There are also a number of extra activities available including rides, egg collecting and whatever else may be happening on the day of your visit (hatching and lambing included!)
The farm is open Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 5.00pm, with pre-booked trips available throughout the week. Teachers are welcome to visit the farm beforehand in order to plan their day – please contact us to arrange.
